MS Security Scan on Vista with 512 MB RAM

Alright. I have a Toshiba laptop that was dripped in my lap that was supposedly full of viruses. I've been working on it off and on for a couple days just looking at what it currently does to see what I needed to do with it.

Last night I uninstalled three anti-virus programs and installed Microsoft Security Essentials. This morning I started a Full Scan to see what, if any, viruses I'd be up against. Six hours later, it's not quite done yet. Actually, it's barely over halfway finished.


I'm curious to find out if there is anything wrong with this laptop or if it's just terribly slow due to only having 512MB of RAM.
